Ampersand had no video capability. Two months later it was shipping ninety a month.
In 2021 Ampersand was a print-first agency producing a handful of videos a month. I was recruited to build the capability from nothing: hired and trained two juniors, wrote the production workflows and SOPs, and then did the part that makes SOPs actually stick: walked the design and brand teams through the pipeline, so a request arrived shootable instead of bouncing between departments.
Output went from 3 videos a month to 90 within a couple of months. The team grew from two to five.
The capability changed what the agency was. Digital clients came for the video muscle, and a print-first agency became a digital one. The new business followed the capability.
The proof of the planning was the Viveks summer campaign with Bhagyaraj: two shoot days. The first day was the team's green screen shoot, which alone produced more than 25 short videos for socials. The second day made the TVC on a full set with a production crew, and both days ran with live sound. The multiplying was done in the planning, before anyone rolled. The studio and its SOPs kept running without me standing next to them, which is the point of building one.
